Alyeska - The resort ...

Alaska is generally seen as the ultimate skiing experience, and it is easy to see why! With an average snowfall of over 60ft, this is the snow capital of the world and a must for those seeking high quality powder. The resort itself is situated just 40 miles from Anchorage meaning a fairly short transfer to this white wonderland. Once off the slopes there is still a lot to do with 20 shops, 14 restaurants and 10 bars to let you relax and enjoy the view of the surrounding glaciers, wildlife and take in the incredible Northern Lights.

The skiing and boarding in Alyeska

The Alyeska resort is an amazing experience for intermediate and advanced skiers who are looking for serious amounts of powder. Alyeska's location to the Gulf of Alaska means that the resort has an incredible average snowfall of more than 60ft, and has been known to have up to 91ft! The North Face of the ski area is where things start getting seriously steep and deep, and will ensure the adrenalin starts pumping as you snorkel through the powder fields, with rarely there being another person in sight. Alyeska is also home to one of the world’s biggest and best areas for cat and heli-skiing allowing you to have the skiing experience of a lifetime in some of the world’s best powder. This really is a resort that simply must be on the ‘to do’ list of incredible skiing experiences.

The après ski in ALyeska

The laid back town offers a friendly feel and a small range of bars and restaurants to help you unwind after a day on the slopes. If you still have the energy, you could take advantage of activities such as dog sledding, ice skating, ice climbing, aeroplane sight-seeing and in early spring, whale watching cruises.
