Set high in the Savoie French Alps, dominated by the tallest mountain in Europe, Mont Blanc, the ski resort of La Plagne is part of 'Paradiski' one of the biggest high altitude skiing and snowboarding areas in the world. It is a mixture of traditional villages and ultra-modern purpose-designed centres, each virtually self-contained with shops, ski schools and direct access to the ski area.
The resort of La Plagne is split into ten stations, which gives the opportunity to ski a number of quaint, French villages in a huge ski area. Our chalets are all based in the four main areas of Belle Plagne, Plagne Centre, Plagne 1800 and Plagne Villages. Whilst the main commercial centre is in Plagne Centre, there are supermarkets and ski hire shops in the other villages. All areas are linked by a free bus service.

Skiing in La Plagne offers something for all levels of skier. The terrain varies from glacier to powder snowfields and forest. There are 225km of pistes in the ski resort of La Plagne, offering the largest amount of skiing anywhere, by any other resort. Lift passes purchased for six days or more are valid for a day skiing in other top ski resorts including Val d'Isere, Tignes and Courchevel. More convenient though is the Paradiski link by the spectacular Vanoise Express double-decker cable car to the Les Arcs ski area across the valley, more or less doubling the skiing available from your doorstep. more about the skiing and boarding in La Plagne >>

Skiing in La Plagne offers something for everybody. Families, groups and people of all ages will find something to do after skiing. In Plagne Centre alone there are dozens of restaurants, shops, bars and a cinema, all connected by underground passages.

The ten different ski villages are divided up in to six purpose built and four traditional. The oldest ski resort is Plagne centre, located at 1970 metres. The ski resort of Plagne Centre is the original, constructed 40 years ago as one of France's first built for skiing villages. What the buildings lack in charm, they make up for in convenience. There are dozens of restaurants, shops, bars and a cinema, all connected by underground passages.
The ski resort of Aime la Plagne is slightly higher up at 2100m. Plagne Villages/Plagne Soleil are both located at 2050 metres and have easy access to the pistes. Plagne Bellecote houses the resorts Freestyle stadium a skating rink and a heated outdoor pool. The ski resort of Belle Plagne is the newest and most attractive of the purpose built villages and is elegant and traditional in style. Plagne 1800 has a village feel to it and is generally quieter. Below Plagne 1800 are four old villages that have access to the lift system. They mainly consist of renovated farmhouses in small hamlets.
Every village in the La Plagne ski resort are easily accessible by highly efficient and regular transportation that is free to anyone skiing in La Plagne. Each village is equipped with all necessary amenities all interconnected by tunnels and walkways. These underground passages are extremely practical in snow country.
The Paradiski area (combining La Plagne with Les Arcs) is one of the largest in Europe with a total of 293 pistes over 425km (225km in La Plagne). There is skiing to suit all levels of skier in La Plagne. Over half the pistes are blue runs and are therefore perfect for confident beginners and exploring intermediates. There are also a multitude of freeriding options and 3 freestyle parks making La Plagne and the Paradiski area the perfect choice for mixed ability groups.
The landscape of the La Plagne plateau seems perfectly suited to skiing in terms of its topography and geography. It is stretched out over a large area, positioned in the centre of a huge bowl-shaped corrie. It is contained to the east, south and west by towering mountains with altitudes varying from 2500m to 2700m, thus protecting its slopes from the wind and allowing trees to grow happily up to 2300m. This site preserves the snow as well as being a perfect suntrap and offers an impressive view of Mont Blanc's Italian face.
The Vanoise Express, a 200-person cable car, has linked the La Plagne ski area (near Montchavin-les Coches) to Plan Peisey in Les Arcs since 2003. The joint resorts boast 142 ski lifts and over 400 kilometres of pistes. Skiing in La Plagne offers something for everyone, a vast ski and snowboarding area, inter-linked by over 110 lifts, high capacity chair lifts, a huge skiable vertical, again one of the biggest in the world and glacier skiing.
