The skiing and boarding in La Rosiere |
 |
Skiing in La Rosiere offers something for every level of skier. For the beginner there are two great nursery areas, one near the main village and one near Les Eucherets where many new chalets are being built. For the intermediate there are plenty of reds and blues on both the La Rosiere side and on the Italian side towards La Thuile. The advanced can find some good off-piste and will enjoy the famous Marcassin run to La Vaz, as well as the opportunity to try heli-skiing across the border in Italy. more about the skiing and boarding in La Rosiere >>

La Rosiere Resort overview |
 |
The ski resort of La Rosière is a small, attractive, purpose-built resort in the Savoie region. It’s quiet and friendly, and one of the main attractions is the connection with La Thuile in Italy. This appeals to intermediates who enjoy cruising over the border for an authentic pizza, but more importantly draws those wishing to take advantage of the heliskiing opportunities that the connection with Italy brings.
The views of Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa are fantastic. The Espace Bernado has 150km of runs for beginners and intermediates to explore but experts may tire of the slopes after a couple of days. This could be solved with a heli-skiing/boarding trip or a visit to the nearby slopes of Val D’Isère, Tignes or Ste. Foy. The snow is good in La Rosière and even better over in La Thuile, and most of the pistes are in glorious sunshine, which is fairly rare in France.
Activities in the ski resort of La Rosière include driving packs of dogs, helicopter flights, paragliding or snowmobiling. There is a cinema and a fitness centre. On Monday evenings you can join the ESF in a torchlight descent. Heliskiing or boarding is popular over in La Thuile. Events in La Rosière include Christmas activities, a stage of the Snowkite World Cup in January, a telemarking day, a junior skiing and snowboarding competition and a slopestyle contest for children between 8 and 14 years old. Most of the activities are geared towards children and so it is a great place for young families. La Rosière is perhaps best suited to beginner or intermediate skiers or snowboarders who are looking for a peaceful chalet holiday.
