Red Mountain: The Resort... |
 |
Red Mountain Resort is another of British Columbia’s gems that is tucked away from the mainstream crowds. With a growing base area and fantastic ski hill which boasts some incredible back country and tree skiing; Red Mountain really is a resort worth experiencing. As part of a Canadian road-trip, Red Mountain would be a perfect 3 day stop-over; although there is easily enough terrain to keep even the most advanced of skiers interested for longer stays.

Skiing in Red Mountain |
 |
Red offers a surprising amount of styles of terrain, although the advanced and advanced intermediate skiers will gain most enjoyment from the mountain. With natural kickers and chutes to be found all around the resort and an abundance of trees to dip in and out of, it really is a fantastic skiing playground. With around 20ft of snow falling each winter, and the lack of crowds on the mountain, it is easy to see why Red is loved by the locals.

Apres Ski in Red Mountain |
 |
Apres ski in Red Mountain is limited with just a few outlets in the resort itself. It is better to head to the near-by town and enjoy the local bars and restaurants which give far more variety.

Cat-skiing in Red Mountain |
 |
If you haven’t ventured away from lift skiing before then Cat skiing is the perfect next step. You don’t need to be as advanced as when heli-skiing but you still can enjoy untracked powder away from the main pistes and test yourself on a variety of levels of difficulty of terrain.
Cat skiing is also much less vulnerable to the weather than heli-skiing and so you can receive a near guaranteed experience whatever the weather.
Big Red Cats offers some of the best Cat skiing in North America, and is the only operation in British Columbia to offer separate trips for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers. This ensures that you can enjoy your cat-skiing with a group of skiers who are of a similar level and can make the most of the experience.
With 5 mountains and 18.500 acres of terrain, you will be able to experience some of the best tree skiing in the world with 2 guides per group taking you to all of the best spots to be found.
Prices begin at £275pp and packages vary from a single day through to an entire week.
