Taos – The Resort...

If you are looking for a secluded and challenging resort in America that is a step away from the norm then Taos is the perfect resort. Situated just 2 hours south of Albuquerque, and then a further 20 minute drive through the woodland; Taos truly is a hidden gem. Taos is one of the few North American resorts still family owned and it is noticeable with friendly and helpful faces to be found all over the mountain; willing to show you a secret or two. With an abundance of snowfall each winter and terrain which is going to thrill even the most advanced of skiers, Taos is definitely a secret worth discovering.

The skiing and boarding in Taos

Taos offers some of the most advanced skiing to be found in America with 51% of the runs being black or double black diamonds. Locally it is well known for serious steeps, although there is enough terrain to please the intermediate skier and give them a stern but fulfilling challenge. Offering fantastic sunny days, followed by regular heavy snowfall, the conditions in this hidden valley are always superb. The majority of skiers who come to Taos enrol in the highly rated ski school to ensure they get the most out of this daunting mountain, but even without tuition, there is so much to discover on this mountain. There are ridges to drop off, natural bumps and kickers to play on, challenging runs through the trees; namely Castor or Pollux which will test the very best, and powder to be found all over the mountain. This is the mountain that will thrill, excite and challenge, the way skiing was always meant to!

The après ski in Taos

There is plenty of après in Taos, whatever the style is you are looking for. Live music can be found at either the Martini Tree or Edelweiss Bar, of which the latter is famous for its Margaritas. The deck area at the Hotel St. Bernard is a popular haunt as soon as the slopes close with great views of the resort. The town of Taos is slightly livelier than the ski village, with Alley Cantina often having live music and crazy dancing to help the night disappear into the early hours.
